Thrasher 92 36# Question

Can anyone tell me why my engine operates at a higher temp with this chip than my other 36# chip? My other chip is set for 160 deg fan on and I believe the thrasher is to.
Tried the thrasher last nite and my engine ran 180+ just cruising around while the other would allow the engine to run at 168 or so.
There must be an explanation? Scott please.

I'm sure you made sure while doing these tests that weather conditions were identical???
Are you sure the two chips have the same fan parameters?? That's a biggy.

Actually Dave, it was cooler out when I was running with the thrasher. Trying to figure out what the parameters are for the thrasher.

I believe that chip turns on the fan at 172º.

probably the extra timing on your new chip.. will run a little hotter..at least thats what i've heard. i could be wrong.

still no concrete answer

Well I just got a direct response from Scott (thrasher supplier) who said the fan on temp is 160. He also said it was foolish for me to be worrying about it, maybe it is but when I wonder about something I ask. Thanks guys.
