Maybe it's me, BUt I was reading a Thread in the Lounge ( Powerade ) & It's Gone, & there was a Crank thread in Stage II area It's gone.
Does anyone know why???

Jim

Very seldom will a moderator delete a thread without first saying something. The "powerade" thread was deleted by a moderator as it was an inane and rather stupid thread for an automotive board,in the lounge.

We do like to have fun but also try to keep subjects on a somewhat mature level. This board has generated lots of respect outside the Buick community as illustrated by many "outsiders" [whom we gladly welcome!] in such areas as "turbos", electronics for the FAST system and other tech areas.

We would like our visitors to be treated to a clean house, polite chatter and friendly responses. We also like our members treated like this.

Remember, the person that initiates a thread, can also delete it.

Jack has re-posted some board guidelines in a "sticky" at the top. By using good common sense, manners, respect and treating a post like you are talking directly to the person, we should continue to have a very "professional and friendly" place.:D

Screamin......

No offense, but I beg to differ with you. And on this subject MY opinion matters most. :D
There are plenty of boards out there to express "anything goes"
But not here or at least not anymore.

AND this is the definition as copied from under the lounge heading......"A place for off-topic discussions"

Nick,
A couple of things, If there are going to be deleted threads in the lounge for "Not being Automotive related" Is there going to be a lounge??
Also, If a moderator is going to delete a thread, is it based on his perception of what should be on the BB?.

Bruce,
Not busting chops, but Powerade I think is a off topic discussion.

Thanks guys
Jim

I think the poll: Eric Schertz vs Ron's Auto was something good to keep in the archives. So a local customer may use the info to choose a vendor to fix his car. If the moderator felt the
"Powerade" posts poisoned the thread why not just delete those posts and leave the rest to read. It makes it appear that the Board does not approve of the winner so delete it all. If you look at the lounge now there are many posts that are useless and have nothing to do with anything here but are allowed to live. I may be wrong but that's how it looks.

Ed, you are way off base with this comment. It may be your opinion that the board did not approve of a "winner", but is NOT true at all.

The topic got way off and personal attacks were present. The board will NOT tolerate that.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, please state it as such.

We are not here to "police" each thread, just to try and maintain a sense of dignity with the understanding this is an automotive forum, and some subjects are not welcome.

Ed, if you'll check you'll find the thread was NOT deleted, it was simply closed (with explanation). The "winner" is there for all to see.

Aw yes, the poweraid poll. It followed one of the few threads I’ve closed since becoming a moderator. The subject thread was rambling off into pure nonsense and I probably let it go too long as it was.

I closed the thread with the following post: “I think this thread has run it's course and everyone has had a chance to voice their opinions. We're at the point where we're trying to decide which color Poweraid is best and see no reason to continue this dialogue. The thread is closed.”

The notorious Poweraid Poll popped up immediately thereafter. Bang!...it was gone just as fast. Amazing, isn’t it? If your intent in posting a thread is to bust balls, aggravate and instigate, try another board cause it won’t fly here.

The moderators on this board are, of course, volunteers and otherwise very busy people. They have agreed to assist with this board for one reason; to make this board the best possible source of turbo Buick information for you, me and us. While we want this forum to be entertaining, our main focus remains the exchange of Buick and other automotive information and we expect our members to stay focused on what the board is all about. While we want to maintain a relatively “free format” in the Lounge, it may be necessary to restrict all threads to the exchange of automotive related subject matter. No one wants to see that happen but it will if we continue to misuse and abuse it.

Jim let me say this to you and the rest of the members Me , Jack & Rollin WILL NOT delete a thread without informing the maker of the thread as to why. Also remember the person that starts a thread, can also delete it.
As far as a members choice on what type of topic/thread they enter into the lounge is there choice .....It is an off topic forum.
FYI... We reserve the right to make the choice as to a thread staying or being deleted , We base our decision solely on the interest of Turbobuick.com and its members NOT on our personal opinion.

Screamin, we are discussing and you have given us some good input. DO NOT TAKE PERSONALLY!
This is how we learn and set precedents and by all means DO NOT stop voicing your opinions. We need them.

You would think with money they could find some other direction to spend their so easily made money. Like buy a GN.........:D
