Hello

Yesterday I installed a new radio and while doing that I had to move the shift handle all the way from Park to 1 so I could manouver.

Today I noticed that the thumb button on the shifter offers almost no resistance when pressed, before today there was some resiastance that I grew accustomed but now there is no resistance at all.

I assume that that button was pressing someting inside the shifter handle with some specific purpose but now that is not happening and I wonder if this may cause more serious problems down the road. I still can get out of Park by pressing the brake at the same time y moe the shifter from Park to D but I have the feeling that something inside the shifter might be broken.

I beg you to give me your insights/comments
Should I take the car to the shop so they pull appart the shift handle?

I live in a small town in Chile South America where there is no expertise in these cars.

Best Regards

The button is there to prevent you from accidently knocking the car into gear. You are supposed the have to press it before you can put the car into R. Evidently its broken and it wont hurt a thing just be aware that when the key is ON the shifter will move into gear with any pressure anywhere on the shift lever. Hope this helps.

i would get it fixed as soon as possible though. you dont want to be riding an accidently, put your tranny in reverse just my 2 c.RR
