timing gears

i know timing gears are noisier than timing chains but more accurate b/c they dont stretch. my question is would a set of gears in a TR constantly set off the knock sensor or not? does the knock sensor have to have a certain frequency to be set off or is it just a noise in general b/c gears whine but dont knock.
