What's the popular opinion on timing using Methanol?
Currently running 26.
 
As much as the car will make power on... and Steve can make you a chip with a tad bit more timing on the bottowm. When I had the ME-r, I ran 30 degree's up to 36 MPH.

I'm at 23.. next week i'll start bumping up the timing.

When you say run.. does that mean your up-n-running again :biggrin:
 
Not quite. Still need to get the injectors flowed. I called Leeper, but he quoted me almost double what others said it would cost, so Im looking for an alternate flowbench.

Doing them right, takes a time.
With his reputation, I'd rather spend the extra money to know they're really right.

I've seen some shops that just measure the flow with beakers, and if they're close, that's good enough. I've seen some that act like nothing is going to be right, and are just out to sell injectors, then one shop where they ultra-sounded them if they were off, and then retested them.

All kinds of *craftmanship* floating around nowadays.
 
understood. They have been flow matched previously. I just need to know if the one in my lean cylinder is good or bad.
 
I would blindly trust Chuck. What did he quote? 80.00? After Reynolds.. my injectors are going to him. And I dont make any $$ endorsing him.

Gets new o-rings, screens, and theyre "really" tested.. If he spends an hour on them.. that would be a steal.

Big difference when theyre new and someone claims to flow them and then they sit for 4 months on a shelf :rolleyes:
 
98.00. That's approaching 1/3 the price of a new set of flow matched injectors.
 
Razor-

Do you run 23* across the board or do you have more timing in 1st and 2nd gears? I've been running an Extender chip set up at 26/24.
 
FAST = across the board. one of its disadvantages..
 
Just wanted to ask.... Is it a given that I can run more timing w/ methanol & 93 pump gas than what I was running w/ denatured alcohol & 93 pump gas? I just sold my SMC kit & bought Razor's kit(super fast shipping by the way...thanks Julio) & my current set up is 23/21 w/ the extender chip, so I'm just looking to learn more about what I can do timing wise.

The more alky shot into the motor.. the more resilliant it will be to having knock.. What timing.. great question. Start at a certain boost level.. then work your way up timing wise.. playing with the fueling and alcohol amount.. I have seen some big numbers timing wise..

Nowdays.. not uncommon to see 28-30 degree's in the lower gears.. :wink:
