Title questions

Ok am planning on buying a GN within the next week vin#1G4GJ1172HP454701.Looked up carfax and it says it was a salvage and junk title back in 1991.
The person selling says that there was no report of it when he perchased it a little over a year ago and ran the title and says that the title has nothing about it ever being salvaged and that if it had ever been salvaged it would say something about it.Also carfax dosn't have anything about a reconstruction title .To make matters even more confusing I ran it thru autocheck another reporting service and it says it has never had a salvage or junk title But it's initial report doesn't start until 1996. Also as far as I know this guy I'm dealing with seams to be an upstanding guy.

Help!! Does anyone have a way of finding out the real story on the car?
Also is there any way to wash a title so as to not show the salvage portion??

I know on a Pa. title itself it will have a "R" in one of the code sections on the title indicating that it was reconstructed. Ask to see the title. I'm not sure about all states, but I would think they all would have something on the title.

Ohio titles say salvage on them.

Most states I know of list salvage on the titles. I did run this in my databse for you and responded to your PM. Car was totalled and salvaged back in 91. All the info is in your PM. I sent 2 because all the info wouldn't fit in one. Hope it helps.
