I have a chance of getting a used 1983 " BR" for about $300. The seller said it came from a car that was driven daily.I know that " BR's" are the holly grail ....But in a low powered 350 street rod would I be better off finding an " AA" for a cheaper price and just changing the servo/shift kit Dollar per dollar ?
I've read that units built after 1984 / or is it 1987 have better improvements, so just because this is a " BR" should I buy it for that reason ? I know that what ever I buy should be rebuilt.

the br has its shortcomings.the deletion of certain speed part throttle kickdowns makes it something a little less of a performer than the mcss ho which has an ALIVE feeling in respect to the part throrttle kickdowns.if you can get it for 300 it is well worth it however.if your engine needs to shift at 5000 rpms plus at wot then consider it mandatory.

Whoa there!!!

Isn't the 1983 "BR" different than the 86-87 "BRF"? Someone chime in here.
