So I got this brand spanking new 6262 bb turbo sitting on the bench waiting to install. Been reading a lot about porting the wastegate hole. Got an external wastegate, so I just port to the size of that, right? Hole in turbo is around 7/8". If I port it to the size of the wastegate pipe this will negate being able to use a regular wastegate but not planning on going back.

I know you do this to prevent boost spike but wondering if I should just bolt it on and go or just port it now. Assuming it is pretty common to get boost spike with larger turbos??

If the car is capable of going over 115mph in the quarter id port it or you will more than likely have boost creep. Boost creep is related to air flow through the engine. Id go to .110

If you are using a crabide bur just take it easy when its getting close as they remove a bunch of material in a hurry. I would run teh car for a few days wit hit on there to get a carbon track line and then pull the turbine housing off and port away

I can see me and Jay having this discussion. I would be asking a thousand questions while he is walking over and getting the tool and starting to port. Couple of minutes later he says "here it's done" roll out:biggrin:

BTW, this really happened;)

Porting is a must. The hole it comes with is very small. I think it would creep in any application the way it comes.

Yup, I had a major overboosting issue that cost me a head gasket. Do it. It's necessary.

I would port it. I had my 63E ported by Precision to match my DP when I bought it years ago. I never had any boost creep issues. On my GT32 I did not port it because I was using the stock DP. And it creeps about 2lbs. I will probably pull the turbo off and port the hole. Since your turbo is new, now is a good time to coat the exhaust housing and port the hole. I will come right apart.
