Ok, well, if this thread is going to endure like this, I suppose I'll throw my $.02 in....

The question of "respect" has come up in this thread. To me, respect is about how someone handles themselves as a person, not about what the drive, or what motor gets it down the track.

I met Tony briefly at Orlando for the World Street Nats, and he seemed like a very cool, down to earth guy. He was more than happy to stand there and chat with myself, Cal (another CLASS act), Blackshoebox, and 86Brick. He gladly answered any questions we threw at him, and was very humble about the car. As far as I'm concerned, he'd have my respect regardless of if he drove an 8 second Buick or a 15 second Mustang.

As far as Chris having my respect, I've never met the man, so who am I to sit here across a keyboard and judge him? What motor he puts in his Buick has absolutely ZERO bearing on my respect for him as a person. I'd love to meet him, and hopefully I'll get the chance one of these days at a meet. But how can you people sit there and judge someone, and say you have no respect for a person, based SOLEY upon the motor they run? That’s ludicrous, immature, and just plain dumb.

Try to keep things in perspective, folks. We are all passionate about our cars, but if your going to judge someone, make sure you are passing judgment for the right reasons.

This is very common knowledge for anyone that considers themselves a turbo race fan.
What you do with your car is your business. How many old fords have a SBC in them? How many people have put the Gn motor in a car that has never some with one. I can think of several people including one that is building a $100,000 plus tube chassis car. If you have the ambition and creativity to try some thing new, go for it I am sure you can get a race.
I would not have thought of putting a v-10 motor in a GN but if you have time and money go for it!
If you are to against even being next to a v-8 at the line, "assuming you have been to the track" then Chris has a brand new 71 GTQ on his 109 "stock buick v-6" waiting for it's first victim.

BTW you were done 2 posts ago.
Get a life and maybe scourer the junk yards for v-6 motors to save
before they go to scrap. Maybe you can start up a ministry.

I have been into racing buicks for over 10 year and have owned 3 in the process along with 2 stage 2 motors. You are one of the few people I have corresponded with that makes me want a mustang.

Go away
Go away
Go away
Go away
Go away
Go away

There, I said it 6 times so you should get it.

Nick,

If this continues please lock this thread then I will make another to praise Tony Gome's Car with out other people's negative comments and agendas.

If you want me to go away FASTER, you should have said it 8 times and not 6. :D

Funny thing is, you guys blew this WAY outta proportion. I make one funny comment saying "take that chris chow" about Tony's car. And all you guys start getting defensive. Its all in fun. Not sure why Nick deleted that first post that I typed. It had no profanity and was clean to the touch. Then a few, John, Chow, proceeded to chime in here and write posts constantly repeating "Chow is still better than you". Ease up on the comments, your more sensative then my lady. Chow, accept the fact that someone with a single turbo V6 is inching closer to you. If you wanna go faster then fine go faster. But once again the topic was driven way outta proportion. All apologies guys. Let Tony have his pride.

Very well said Matt!!!!:)

Tony,
Congrats on your times. As always, it is great to see you race.
Chris,
I've never seen you race, but congrats on your times also.
Great accomplishments by both.
Oh, and I challenge both of you to a race. Yeah, that's right. Spot me a few seconds and I'll kick your butts(try to). Loser pays for dinner. Just watch out, I eat alot.
Any conversation in this thread that does not contain offers to buy these guys a meal should stop. It's kind of annoying, and noone will ever prove the other side wrong.
Hey, I'll be in the 11s soon watch out guys.

Good advice.

I was getting tired of fourdoormeany goading John Wilde to no end.
It's really poor, when someone continually disrespects me or my crew. Things like that don't even happen to me in the pit area of my fiercest competitors, they respect my accomplishments and demonstrate sportsmanship and class. This does not however, happen everywhere as you pointed out.

FWIW Chris, I know why you are pissed off/frustrated.... It sucks that you have to catch flak from some of the members about your car, but my best advice is to just ignore all the haters because everytime you strike back to their negative remarks they are getting what they want (getting under your skin).... You know that your car is badass so if I were you I would just let the haters talk their sh!t on here while you let your car do the talking for you at the track where it really matters!

Good luck this year racing HU in the PSCA:cool:

I'll give you a little taste. Picture a guy who lets 4 kids in their early 20s tag along with him to dinner because they're so impressed by his down to earth personality, willingness to teach everything he knows about EBCs, DFI, and MoTeC, his car, and his sense of humor. Then picture a guy who plays nerf football with them in a cheveron gas station because they're bored while getting gas. Now picture a guy who leaves the keys to his 1,200+ hp GN with these kids over night because they're camping at the track. And finally picture a guy who lets two of them back him into the groove after a long burnout in the middle of heads up eliminations of Heavy Street in the PSCA and make them feel like a million bucks because they half jokingly asked if they could, as an added bonus he kept trying to convince them he got the best 60' time of his life because of their help... not because he ran more boost off the line than ever had at the best prepped track he'd ever been to. ;)

That is Chris Chow in a nutshell. Just out to have a good time and make as many friends as possible. but when someone talks a bit of smack... his old street racing side shows it's colors.

And ScottyNobody... you lost, the end.

Very cool. I'll have to meet him for sure :)

I second that:cool:

My buddy Al meet him at one of the meets and had nothing but positive things to say about him. That's the type of folks I like hanging around with....:)

As I see this post has gotten way outta hand. I would however like to say a few things in regards to everyone including Chris Chow. Originally, this post began as praise towards Tony Gomes. I jumped on with my comments saying how awesome it was and then made a friendly/competitive comment saying "Take that Chris Chow". It was all out of good fun. Mr. John Wilde comes in and writes a post claiming how Chows car is still better. Was that necessary? I don't think so. So I replied with a "chris chow sucks" statement with an attached smiley. This would say that I am joking, in which I was. Not to mention, Chow came back and said that Tony's time was no 8.23. Which in my opinion is a little cocky. Then, a few people with sticks up their @$$ took it personal and gave me $hit for it. Well, I don't let bad topics go unanswered, so I defended myself. I meant nothing at all to be personal towards chris chow. That being said, here are some messages for some people:

To Mr. 2-post....I mean Paint Job: You obviously have a total of around 5 posts, all in this thread. This would tell me one of two things. 1.) You know absolutely nothing. or 2.) You are a friend of Chris Chow's and created a screenname just in order to defend him. This is understandable, yet your posts are irrelevant.

To Mr. John Wilde: Stop speaking for other people, your misinterpretations are way outta control. Speak only for yourself.(Remember when this happened about the homepage?)

To Chris Chow: (and I mean this sincerely).
Chris, I meant absolutely nothing personal towards you on this post. A little laughing matter turned into a pile of crap. I am sure your a cool guy, and a friendly one at that. Hell, I keep a Nerf Football, baseball, glove and bat, and basketball in my trunk. Sounds alot like me. Anyhow, my comments were directed towards your V8 powered GN. Yes you have other GN's and thats cool. I am not impressed with your times on that V8 GN that you have. Nothing against you at all, but with that motor, I wouldnt expect anything less than an 8.32. Tony ahieved 8's with V6 and SINGLE turbo. Stage II or not, he still represented. In short Chris, I don't want you to think I was dissing you as a person, because I don't fall that short. I don't even know you, and who knows, I may bump into you in the future. But I will still give you slack about that GN being a V8. :D And that would be done all out of friendly fun. I do the same thing with mustang owners. Just hope all is well. Good luck on your racing.:p

Peace,

Scott

Gee Scott, You sure have a way of poking a stick in the wound with what sounds like was suposed to be an apology in your mind. Just let it die like Nick M. suggested. You just keep digging deeper. Mark E.

You agree Mark, like many others, let's just stop it here and accept Scott's apology.:)
