Going with 2009 Corvette 57U Cyber Gray:cool: on the 87 Turbo T. Putting the chrome trim back on around the windows and chrome grill, headlight bezels and tail lights. Not going to put the chrome splash guards back on under the doors nor the wheel trim. Gonna paint the bumpers too. I think it's gonna be a clean ride when done. Brian at gbody parts has been helpful in providing all the interior parts n stuff to rebuild the inside as well as bumpers and other weight savers.

I'll post up pictures of progress with this paint color. We're takin off panels, gonna do all the jambs and inside do it right.

Speaking of Corvette, my Z06 got stuck in 4th and then made nice grinding sounds saturday too, so now I should put in a new clutch, send the M12 over to get rebuilt too. Plus its a good time to put on new rotors and pads...Oh the fun begins! Crossing my fingers the 87 GN stays happy as my only running car other than the wife's Jeep Patriot:biggrin:

How much for a nice paint job down in the flordia area? And are you taking the car down to bare metal?

It's a one man shop here locally. He's hooking me up with a good price, we'll see how much body work or rust there is before a final price is known. We're gonna take it down to the metal as well as the floor pans. I'll get pictures up as the project progresses...

paint job

My gnx clone was stripped down to bare metal, when i left the shop i needed to get it primed fast due to a bare metal surface, asked three local body shops and the best price i got was 18k mind you i had the car all taken apart at this time doors off ,quarter windows out, hood, trunk lid and so on an so forth. Had one place paint the roof , trunk and quarters along with front fenders to the tune of 8k rolled car out off shop only to find the roof looks like someone bounced a ball on it. After all the legal steps brought car to another body shop to fix the roof and got into another 7k worth of nothing car roof was badly damaged from first body man and covered it up with a 1/2 inch of bondo. Second guy said roof was fixed and he only bondoed over what was already bondoed, so after 15k in bondo and paint i repaired and painted the car myself had an old italian guy that is a retired body guy repair the roof by heating and shrinking the metal the i painted the car and spent 100 hours wet sanding and buffing to a mirror finish lesson well learned. Can see pics of the car on this site under the gnx forums, thread is a gnx we re-created. Kash

That should be a hot color. How much are they gonna charge? Did they tell you up front? Seems like paint jobs can vary considerably these days. I would like to paint mine a grey color as well. Post pics when completed.

Here are some pics of my prep work in the garage last weekend:
