Was that your car at one time? Ive never heard of the maytag car, what was it? That looks like a lot of damamge, but looks repairable unless the frame got bent too.

The first photo was taken in Bristol, Tenn when at that time it had training wheels........ooops........I mean drag radials. When that same car showed up later that summer, it had REAL drag slicks mounted on a different set of rims.

..............shortly after these pics were taken, the car self combusted somewhere in Birmingham, Ala...........FOR REAL.

Oh ok. I didnt think the damage looked bad enough to destroy the car. It latter caught on fire and thats what did it.

.........that car didn't catch fire.........it EXPLODED in a 40' ball of flame, sparks and smoke viewable everywhere south of the Ohio River.

why was it called the maytag car? cuz it is the color of a washer machine?

lol

Was it yours???

John

What's going on with the right rear wheel? It almost looks like it has independent suspension in the back. You can see it tipped in a little in the 'after' pictures too.

Jim

That's strange??????

Brings back nightmares...

That was one SWEET @$$ ride!
Did someone ever figure out the cause of the explosion?

The first set of wheels were centerline, style 89, billet gn. I also bought a set of them when they were 100.00$ apeice. They are now 425.00 a wheel......go figure..........I'll never buy a centerline product again.

The original pics do not show the "tip in" of the wheel. The pics I posted were taken from the FBI original spy photos with a digital camera and the curvature of the FBI pics showed up in the copy. HTH

you guys might want to avoid hiting walls
maybe use the round thing in front of driver seat??

We all try our best to stay out of the wall or get in accidents. Sometimes as humans we make those mistakes.

just playing with you guys
i can understand whats happening ,i havent hit the wall but have twisted a
driveshaft into 3 pieces at 104 mph and it bounced around under car ,broke trans case and oiled my rear tires some ,couldnt stop, just got lucky it went straight

FWIW, that was my first turbo Buick..Still have it. Lost the car in a house fire that had something to do with the gas water heater and fuel vapor from that car. Hottest point in the fire was near the evap canister at the front left wheelwell. I was not running the evap canister and just had a piece of hose vented to atmosphere under the car. I'm guessing fuel somehow made its way up and out the vent line...As for the wall incident...The track was wet and IMO cars had no business being run on the track. There was a light mist falling right as I pulled into the burnout box...They were still running cars and I chose to make a pass. Car spun out of the hole, I lifted and eased back into about 1/3 of the way down the track. Came up on boost, and blew the 28x10's off it and the car drifted out of the groove and into the wall...When I got the car home and tore it apart, I noticed a small pin hole in one of the oil filter relocation lines. No way to tell if the hole was from the wreck or if it actually caused the tires to bust loose...Hope to redo it one day, the car sustained damage to everything from the front edge of the doors and up to the bumper. May get to work on ole Maytag this year, as I need to move it from its current resting spot..Thx for the memories Dane  Sadly, there are very few pics of that car in existence..Best it ran was 11.30 at 120mph in Bristol 98'
