Just got back from the track on the TR's first outing in several years. Car ran ok, but I was not happy with the 60ft times. I'm gonna describe how the car "used" to be and how it is now and everything that's in my Sig is the same on both counts except tires and converter.
The car used to 60 ft high 1.50's. This was leaving with 12psi of boost on a 26x10 tire. The car had an Orange Stripe 3000 12" converter in it back then.
Today, I ran the car with the stock torque converter and a 27" x 9" tire. Also left with 12psi of boost and the car went 1.77 on 4 back to back passes. It wasn't spinning (hooked and went). I tried to launch with 15, but then it did blow the tires away.
My 60 ft is down 2 tenths from what it was before and so is the ET. If I can get it to leave like it used to, I'm right back where I was with the car.
Should I go back to a shorter tire or put a converter back in it? I was thinking that leaving with the same boost levels would net the same 60's, but apparently the converter has more to do with the launch than just spool up.
