IVE GOT A VACUUM LEAK IN BETWEEN UPPER PLENUM AND THE INTAKE IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM? THERE DOESNT SEEM TO BE ANY WARPAGE ON EITHER, GOING TO PUT A NEW GASKET AND NEED TO KNOW THE TORQUE SPECS ON THE 5 BOLTS
ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS BESIDES IF IT DOESNT WORK I WILL HAVE TO HAVE THEM BOTH CHECKED THEN MACHINED

I don't remember the torque spec[15 #'s?],but I usually just choke up short on a 3/8" rachet [up by the head]and tighten them down.
Never had one ounce of trouble, never any leaks.:)

I asked the same question sometime back...and was told 20# which I thought was a little much. I went with 16# which felt about right going by the old grunt scale.

I wouldn't put a torque wrench on those bolts, I'd do as previously recommended and just use a regular 3/8" ratchet and snug 'em down.
I put an RJC plate on my car on Sunday, and I think my passenger rear is stripping out and I tightened mine the same way.
IMO, that's some very soft aluminum that GM used in the lower intake.

I'd say if your going to install a power plate you should use longer bolts or switch over to studs & nuts. I would think you would want to off set the thickness of the plate and extra gasket at least.

Tony: I have used a very thin seal of silicone on both sides of the gasket with success. Found a leak there even after a new gasket was installed. Silicone fixed it! Good luck!

The plate and gasket probably add about 1/8" of compressed thickness, and eyeballing the length of the bolt looked to put it about 1/2" into the lower. Bolts only really grab with the first few threads, shouldn't have been a problem.
