We are now a vendor for Hoodskinz! No need trying to find an over priced stock hood insulator. These satin black powder coated aluminum panels with an already installed thin insulation backing look great. Introductory priced at $250 plus shipping. More details on our site.
I bought one back in June. Very nice piece, but I've had issues with one or two stock retainers popping out with the skin in place (I did shave the ridge off of the stock retainers to make them sit flush). Maybe a slightly longer retainer would work better. With stock size piping and plenum there shouldn't be any clearance issues. I have 3in intercooler pipes and 72mm GN1 plenum/TB and it does rub on a spot the size of a dime (above the "C") vs the size of a baseball on the stock pad.
Try using 1/4" rivet style retainers. I also added a 10th hole between the two middle holes. Helped to eliminate the rubbing along with a adjusting the up pipe.
