In 2003 I passed on a GNX with 9k orig miles ,mint , for $28k !!!!!!! Dam it !!!!!!!

i see a ton of monte carlos on Ebay and majority of them are clones and they still want highh dollar for them. Buicks and oldsmobile G-bodys seem like the only ones that are commanding High dollar for that are really worth the investment. my plan is to buy a very low mileage, 87 GN fulluy loaded to keep in the garage and drive maybe once every year.

Of the "G-bodies" The Buicks are at the top as far as values, and the only Oldsmobiles would be the 83/84 Hurst/Olds cars but even they aren't anywhere close to the Turbobuicks in terms of value if comparing low mileage stock examples side by side.

IROCs from the 80s aren't that collectible or desired, they were slow as piss and there's a TON of them out there. I hardly ever see them cross the block and when they do they aren't going for much.
There's tons of 1st gen camaros built too and those were slow as fuck too but for some reason they are worth a ton of money and you can build the whole car from a catalog.

A Copo and an as aren't even close to same in numbers. It isn't like every camaro had a big block either. I've seen irocs pull decent times even with 305s and stock heads.

The asking prices keep creeping up but the actual selling prices are not.

I have had some pretty nice thirdgens and from my experience, i can say that they dont bring any money, nor will they in the near future. I feel the TTA lags in value because of the bad rap of the thirdgens too. Not too many rich people bother with those cars.... And the rich people control a big portion of whats considered valuable.... Look at hotrods from 30+ years ago to now.

The Value of cars will always be based on Demand and amount available. I always wonder if 10 years from now if fox body mustangs will ever be worth anything as there were a lot of them produced but were a very popular car when I was in high school.

You guys just send all those worthless third gens my way. I'll gladly take care of them.

Most people want to forget about the 80's LOL. Let's face it, the cars were crap and really don't have the soul of the old classics. I love my GN, but it will never give me the same experience that my old '68 GS 400 4 speed did. Even my uncle's '74 Stingray 4 speed had a certain fun factor to it. The old raw cars were just plain cool.

The only 80's cars that will pull big money will be the stock, low mile '87 GN's and GNX's. I really don't see anyone caring about the IROCs, GTAs, MCSS's, Fox bodies, etc. There are a very rare few people that have soft spots for 80's cars. I'm one of them. They made a big impression on me as a kid, as did other things from that era such as old school car audio, skateboards, and BMX bikes. I guess I look back fondly on those days and like things that take me back. I wouldn't mind having an '89 Vette (6 speed and last year of the digital dash), GT fox body, IROC, '88 Formula, MCSS, or even a Typhoon or '91 ZR1 (last year with stiffer springs). Let's face it though, the GN and GNX destroyed all those cars on the street and that is what everyone remembers.

Well said Buick Mike!
The cars from the 80's were crap but I can't help but smile when I see someone bring out a clean Iroc or fox body (I'm partial to the lx's myself- saw one at a car show that was an old Florida Highway Patrol car- it was perfect. Brought back lots of memories seeing ol' smokey in the rear view)

I like new tech (there's some really cool stuff out there) but it seems like all the cars look the same today. Into the early 90's I could still identify most cars on the road. Now Hyundai's look like Mercedes. And while it would be a blast to have a CTS-V or a hellcat, I'm not loaded. SO, it's easier to content myself with smaller scale stuff.

I've thought about the little Shelby GLH Omni, or the turbo charged dodge shadow, or chrysler conquest? Not the coolest or fastest or even that great looking, but relatively quick (for the time they were built) and fun and you never see them on the road. If you hunt you can find them and they're not too pricey.

I've had a couple solid offers on my 1,400 car that is for sale , 1 dealer which was way low , one offer very close ,but just didn't hit my number . Just after Xmas I starting getting more interest , someone with the extra funds will eventually pay more attention to the market on these cars and as one said ,what will bring good money are low mile stock GN's and GNX's , and make the move .I feel the GN I am selling falls in that category .

A K car is better than 80s GM G body and F body? I guess. Maybe a super clean blue shelby turbo II with T tops. Still a K car though.

This is SOOO true and it drives me nutz. I am of the opinion that the 80's cars are spawned the innovation and successful return of the modern muscle car. Is funny this topic came up . One of my co-workers got a book for christmas I will attach pics. I nearly got a nose bleed when I saw the the table of contents.

Ha! No 80's category. Seriously though, although there were plenty of neat cars in the 80's with all kinds of new technology and new found reliability, there is only one that can hold its own against the muscle cars without extreme modifications. The turbo regal...period.
Until our cars came along, nobody took anything without a big block V8 seriously at the track. Turbo Buicks are the Godfathers of the small motor tech revolution IMO.
