Went to track for the first time this season my best for the night was a 13.427 @ 103 MPH with a 1.995 60ft. I need some bigger, tires had to leave @ 0 boost and still would blow up the tires. I will be going back next month armed with some 28" tires and some good 60fts. Oh forgot to mention my first run was a 16.05 @ 85 MPH so tuning does make a difference. I also believe I would have hit the high 12's with a little more time. I hit my 2 fastest times on my last 2 runs and was not able to make an adjustment for another cause the track was closing but I can tell you with each adjustment my time slips came down .3-.5 tenths of a second.

Congrat's! Your looking good.
Should be able to get a 12 soon!

Mods!!!

Stock block with port matched heads and intake, 86-87 TA49 w/ .82 AR turbine housing, 36lb injectors, DIY alky kit, 204-214 cam, LT 3" downpipe w/ external gate, stock drivers side header, ATR passenger header, stock gears with posi, Protorque 10" lock up 3000 stall, Joe Lubrant street chip. So outside of the exhaust I'm really not that heavily moded. Oh Yeah, NO INTERCOOLER !!!!

What tuning were you doing while there? Adjusting boost? Adjusting fuel pressure? Playing with the DIY alky? What made the big improvements?

Other than pump speed I have no way to make adjustments to my alky kit, To be honest with you all the mystery around tuning is no mystery. The only variables you can control unless you are using a fast system is fuel, timing (chip), and boost. The only reason tuning seams so elusive to some people is because they don't have the patience to see what little adjustments work. Hot airs are not as forgiving as their intercooled brothers and a bad tune could spell disaster at the track. Just bolting on alot of go fast parts will do nothing for a hot air, too many other variables to consider.

Yeah !!!! 13.074@104.12

Went back to the track last night got some more runs in. Boy I need some tires, best 60ft of the night was 2.005 had to leave on vacuum to keep from lighting the tires up. And they still would go up in smoke when the boost came up. Anyway here are the results.

R/T .792
60' 2.013
330 5.422
1/8 8.338
MPH 83.71
1000 10.895
1/4 13.074
MPH 104.12

Like I said if I could get those 60fts down I would say easy 12.60-12.70'S

Cool!

Tires, traction make a big difference. If you can launch with some boost!
Finally got some drag radials, did some 12# launches, blew my passenger side exhaust manifold tube into. :D
Good Times! Congrat's!
