That's unfortunate. I don't like the way the article goes on to mention other deaths, especially the girl who lost her leg because of fault equipment. Has nothing to do with this situation where the kid purposely went into a restricted area. Not worth it for a hat!

They need more than just a sign, maybe electric fences or something,I could see someone losing some oakleys and not being able to locate help and jumping a fence, not knowing that something that severe could happen...but over a hat, definatly not using his head there...Sorry your family had to witness that, hopefully the kids didnt actually see the accident or body...

I would think it would quite easy to put up a large fence to keep stupid kids, drunks, etc... out of an area that could get them killed. Would that really be all that difficult?

Not making excuses for the kids stupidity but I would think 6 flags could have prevented all this negative press by erecting a gate or fence of some sort for these particular areas of danger.

UMMMM It said there were TWO 6ft fence's that those kids climbed over just to get to that area. I worked at a theme park now for 8yrs and I can tell you one thing. Just when you thought you seen it all some guest will top it!! Some of these people are really stupid, the parents just let kids run unattended, some parents sit right there and watch there kids walk along rocks at the edge of a pond! I have been there long enough to know for a fact there is a boat load of people that go to these theme parks on purpose just looking for law suites.

For what it's worth, Ride attendants will not stop a ride just to retrive a hat! They will stop it to get important stuff like cell phones, prescription glasses, stuff like that but not sunglasses or hats. At the beginning of the ride all riders are told to take all belongings off and hold onto them.

It is terrible that this accident had to happen but it's a shame those kids wern't alittle smarter! I look at it like this, If he lost his hat while riding a motorcycle on the interstate and pulled over to go back and get it He is also risking his life by jumping in front of on coming trafic. Either case, It's stupid to risk your life over a HAT!!

I am at the Louisville expo center that shares the parking lot with six flags in Louisville this weekend (still there), we are in for the Junior National Volleyball championship. There was an accident here too. Most of the girls were going to go (over 300 teams and parents from as far as Japan) this spread throught the center and most cancelled their plans to go. I will say the park looks very nice though.
