Hey Guys... I need your insight...
My 93 1/2 Chevy 1500 stopped shifting on the way home from work. At a light, it felt like the lockup solonoid is locked. I have no first, so pulling from a light is like I have a big "STALL". I checked the fluid and it was not burgundy, it looked like motor oil:mad:. I changed the fluid and it is still like the TCC is locked. I do not have a TV Cable to adjust. The only mod to tranny is the B&M Electronic Shift Improver. I placed the Shift improver on firm and as I select the gears, I get a thud as I go through the gear (Pressure upped). While the pan was off, I check the connections to the solonoids and all were solid connections. My question is, would a solonoid keep the tranny from shifting? Did I just burn up my tranny? Is my front pump gone?

Thanks

sounds like the trans is taking off in the wrong gear ,which can be many things ,a blown fuse ,broken wire ,bad ground ,solenoids ,etc .put it on a scanner ,prefferably snap on ,and youll go right to the source of the problem w/out too much hair pulling.www.ckperformance.com

Short of a Snap ON Scanner, is there any other way of diagnosis?
I have an old OTC, but I believe that it would pull any code for the tranny. I will check the four prong plug in the tranny. Where do I look for a blown fuse?

I have the same problem on my truck. I've searched boards and I've found that it's a known problem. It happens when the trans heats up. It'll probably have a 1870 code. Input not matching the output speed, therefore telling the puter that the trans is slipping and locking it up. I leave it in 3rd gear and it doesn't do it. I guess I'm just posponing the rebuild. Some say that it could be a connection also. The plug to the trans heats up and melts causing a short. That wasn't the case with mine though. I can turn the truck off for a few minutes and it will reset the puter, although the SES light is still on for a few days, then clears too.
