Had a shudder problem between 46 and 54, we unplugged the solenoid and the problem went away. Car ran great. We put in a new one and problem has not completely gone away, but somewhat better.

What else could we but up against? What happens if I just leave it unplugged?

Thanks

What does that leave us with as the problem then, converter or something else?

Thanks

I would say you are having a continuity problem. The fuse for the TCC is labled ECM/Solenoid on the panel. Start tracing and tugging to see of you can find the issue. I just ran a new wire from the tranny to the ECM/panel. Mine locked an unlocked whenever it wanted to. New TCCS...hell, new tranny.

We'll take a check tomorrow when I take her in and see what we can see.

I take it the new wire solved the problem?

What type of thing would we be looking for when we do the trace?

Thanks

The plug on the drivers side of the tranny will have 4 wires. 2 are for internal switches (3rd/4th) and the other 2 are for constant 12 volt (that is fed through the brake switch and ecm/sol 10 amp fuse) and an ecm commanded ground.
A lot of people wire in a manual switch to force this wire to ground even if the ecm does not want to, like locking it up at the track at WOT.

Just finished talking to my guy that works on my car and he said the same thing. Leave it unlocked when you are just driving around town and flip the switch when you are going to do hiway driving to avoid over heating.

Sounds kinda like what you are saying.

Would that be an OK thing to do?

Thanks
