I have two friends with manual t-brakes and they both 60ft no better off the t-brake or the e-brake. I have did several 1.61 with e brake 7# launch and they do 1.62-1.64 with 10-12# launches off the t-brakes. Now they are getting air under the tires. Why is this? I have completely stock rear suspension and no air bags and they both have aftermarket control arms and one has the big rear bar.
Should they be leaving at higher boost?

If the set up is good, the t-brake will definitely yield better 60' times.

Throwing a t-brake and a bunch of parts at a car isnt going to make it faster unless they are all working together. Ive gone 1.59 with a stock turbo and converter with 12-15lb launches. I got a 1.59 with a 3-4psi launch with the current combo.

Are they losing traction off the line? Somethings definetly not right.

I hope to think Im one of Dougs friends that he's mentioning about in the first post:D but mind you this is my first time using a transbrake
1) im 60 ftn no better with it than i was without it. but my times & mph are way faster.

2) Im use to drag radials this is the first couple of times ive ran a slick only (7) passes on these total with 20 psi of air in them. I was losing traction (2.2 60ft & 1.7) I dropped it to 14psi and was getting in the 1.69 & 1-- 1.62 with the 28x9s.

3)I still have a whole different combo than last time with way more hp too I have to figure it out. I only got the H&R bar to help leave straight without buckling up the driverside front end. I havent gotten the pionion agle sorted or figured out how to yet its just bolted on by instructions & figured the pinion angle was only needing adj. on low 10 sec cars or better.

I have one airbag with no air in it im gonna take it out, stock springs regular cheap kybs front & back & thats it. I havent tried to foot brake it past 5psi yet most i got out of it with the last combo was foot braking to 8lbs. of boost before it creeps forward & figured it definatley wouldn hold now, i guess i'll try it.

but yes the transbrake helps ALOT but am a little dissappointed in my 60fts but maybe i had too much air in the tires loosing traction someone at the track suggested 10psi, i was already fishtailin down the track with 14psi in them once the shock of the t-brake hit the tires i was doin all i could to keep the car straight, oh yeah i took off at 14 psi on that 1.62 60fter and ran a 7.12 in the 1/8th so thats a low 11 sec. car at 21psi of boost. dont think i could ve done it without the tbrake. TRANNYS NOT SLIPPIN NOW , thanks Lonnie!!!!

Sounds like a blast to drive. If you're getting that wiggely with 14# I don't think less is going to help either.:D I'd say to try 1# more at a time. Sometimes if you're running radials on the front & bias ply slicks it can cause twitchyness. Also harder compound slicks work better on heavy cars. Have you tried a little less launch rpm? I wonder if a slightly taller tire would help with the transbrake shock?
Here's a little Info on Pinion angle.>

I reread this 3 times & now i understand it, gotta go find a protractor & check this out thanks for the info. However my pinion angle is the same as it was when i was gettin 1.69, 1.67, & a 1.63 60 ft. once off a 5 & 8 psi boost launch before, All i did was put the H & R bar on per instructions & didnt bother the pionion angle i figured it'd be the same. All ive done was put the bar on & went to a taller tire,(slick only 1 in. taller) with stock upper arms & non adj. umi lower. Yes i tried less boost launch but that was before with 20 psi in the slicks, didnt try a less launch after i dropped it to 14 psi, i went up in boost launch instead of down, I went from
20psi in tires
(2.2 60ft) 10lb launch
dropped air to 16psi in slicks
(1.7 60ft) 10lb launch
dropped to 14psi in tires
(1.69 60ft) 10psi launch
left it at 14psi Upped timing in 1st gear 2 deg.
(1.62 60ft) 14psi boost launch. last run packed up & went home. Only the last pass is when i got the wiggley feeling like it was spinning or fish tailin slightly down the track....all off tbrake all reaction times was horrible as i couldnt watch the tree & boost in the lane i was in. the other lane was where i was losing traction so i only went in that one twice.

Yep it's you and Danny. You were dead hooking on the last pass with the amount of air under the tires:eek: I wish I had a pic or vid of that! Both of you are making a good deal more power than me as our mph differences show. I do 87-89 and you did 96:D I was expecting ya'll to bust off some 1.5's off the bat! It might be the track but I got a 1.6x there 2 weeks ago. When you pulled the tires I was thinking 1.4:eek:

Sorry for the post. I gave some information on the pinion angle that was already given.
Jeff

Clark6, I think Harbor Freight has some cheap Angle Finders, maybe a magnetic one to stick to the pinion.
