tranny shifts fine when it engages no slips etc. my problem is when its cold and I put her in D she does nothing for a few minutes like waiting for fluid or someting and if I do a couple of shifts from N and D shes works fine
bought my gn with a rebuilt trans already and am trying to investigate why this would possibly occur I had my friend at the shop check the cable/shifter and said they were fine its too cold to check at the present moments but was wondering if I could get steered in the right directiion/ my guess would be the Valvebody but not my area to mess with without actually having an idea.

TIA

hrmmm

Sounds like converter is draining back when parked for a period of time. Does this only occur after sitting for some time? What about after it is warm? Does it do it in reverse cold too?

thanks for the reply this happens mainly when parked overnite in R or D.
the trans shifts fine when warmed but when started up cold she does nothing as if it didnt click into Drive or Reverse
Should I be worried? what should I look for when changing fluid? if anything any help what so ever would be appreciated Ive been converted to turbo buicks from the vetteforum and plan to stay for a while...

TIA
Alan

That is a little odd.

Do you leave it in R or D overnight? If so, the manual valve will allow drainback. Why?, by the way.
It should be left in park at night .
Did I read this correct?

haha funny I must have posted weirdly it is left in park overnite and in the morning when I start up the gn and put it into D or R it does this usually cold only when its warm she is fine

Ok then..

I would ck the fluid level when you park it. Then in the morning, BEFORE starting, ck again. Measure on the stick how much more there is in the pan. If it gains more than an inch on the stick, the converter is draining back. Then the fun begins as we then have to find out why.
