Trans input shaft seal needed?

In a non lockup setup 200r4 transmission. Is the seal at the end needed, same with the check ball and cage. I checked out my stock transmission and they are both in that one setup for lockup. However on my new non lockup trans back from the builder they are both missing?

On non lockup applications, they are normally not there. On lockup applications, usually the capsule is taken out but the oring stays. With the capsule missing in lockup applications, it will hit harder without it there.
