We have a non GN 2004r that has been rebuilt with Superior Transmission parts. The gov was modified to act as a GN gov. The trans has been working fine on the street. We went to the track today for the first time and shifted manually the first 3 passes with no probs. The fourth pass we left it in drive (3) and it didn't shift into second. It doesn't shift unless we let up on the gas, even just driving normal ( not WOT). Any ideas?

HOTTOGO, the stock (unmodified) gov gave a WOT @ 4500, and would not hold 2 gear when shifting manually. My trans guy called Superior Transmission tech and they told him how to mod the gov to act like a GN.

Now for a dumb ques. Will a GN gov AND br valve body work in a non GN/SS trans? My son has $ 1100. in this trans that the guy said he could build to work like a GN.

I just re-read your orignal post, I missed this part, "It doesn't shift unless we let up on the gas, even just driving normal ( not WOT)" if it's acting like that all the time now not just WOT and it didn't do it before the last pass, then my guess is it shot the spring out of the gov. Was it pnned in there? you might want to check? To answer your (no such thing as a dumb?) ques. yes, the only differance between a GN (BRF) tranny is the vb, gov. and servo, those 3 things put into a non-gn will make it work like one. :D

thanks HOTTOGO. I don't believe the spring was pinned in. I'll do a search on how to pin it now. Just in cases I don't find the answer, can you explain it to me? We're taking the car to the tranny shop today and I'll relate the info to him.
