Trans only slips @ WOT

If you have a tranny that only slips at WOT, would this most likely be the clutch packs going out or might it be an issue with the throttle linkage adjustment? The tranny on my car right now slips a little when shifting under normal conditions but doesnt slip too much when at WOT. So this tranny Im sure its the clutch packs/bands being worn. But I have a used tranny that would only slip at WOT so Im thinking is it worth it to install the other tranny and try to make adjustments to see if thats all it needed..... hopefully this makes sense

id try the default tv cable adjustment if you havent already..

My tranny started to slip at wot when i first put drag radials on..
I assummed the clutches were wearing too. fluid didnt look that bad and didnt smell burnt so i tried a shift kit.

Luckily it worked, still doing ok almost 2 years later..

So the tranny that slips at WOT is currently out of the vehicle but has more "built" parts in it. Is it worth it to install in vehicle and try to make adjustments or should I try a rebuild first?
