Trans seems to hold out too long on 1-2 shift?

What do ya think? Went to the track tonight and I made a few discoveries. My biggest concern is my 1-2 shift. It seems that my is waiting too long to shift into second. When it finally hooks out of the hole, it runs smoothly through first then seems like it slams into the rev limiter for a split second before finally giving a hard shift into second. Part throttle the trans shifts nice and firm with no complaints. The 2-3 is a little softer, but it's still a good shift. no delay or anythng. What do you think?

mine does tyhe same thing at about 45 mph when I nail it and from what I hear it is normal.I hate it alsoI wish mine shifted around 35-40.

Try this...

Add one gram of weight to secondary gov weight.
Another thing to try is add some 20/50 or 30wt oil to trans 1 Quart . Drain one quart of atf out first. I know this sounds corney but try it and I bet it may surprise you. Try running level just a tad over full too. You may want to put a hose on the vent and into a bottle in case it gets too hot and spews a little. If this cures your hard WOT problem, Buy a pan kit with a bottom feeder sump kit and .. Walla! problem will go away.

What he (Bruce) is suggesting here is, you might be sucking air into the pump w/stock pan and filter set-up on hard accelerations and thus a loss of pressure, very common thing. If rasing the level solves the prob, then to correctly cure it you should invest in a deep pan/filter set-up.

Did I?

Convey that wrong or in Chinese so bad that it was unclear? ROFLMAO!!!

Hrmmm, way too late and see what NO nookie does to you? :(

Thanks, I'll give the more fluid thing a try first, thenmmaybe the oil thing. If I must, how exactly would I go about adding weight to the governer?

Not at all, ... :D you conveyed the "what to do" just fine. I was just adding the "why to do it" ;)

Sleeper-6 pinning the gov. spring via the set-screw method will add weight, if you are interested in that, do a search on here and you will find the procedure for doing that, other wise you'll need to put some weld spots on it.
