Trans trouble today

I did a couple of WOT blasts today and my tarnsmission wouldn't shift into third gear under WOT. Accelorating normally it shifted fine. I haven't had the car for to long but the previous owner had a pretty stout tranny built for it. I am not sure by who though.
The thing has always shifted very hard, barking second gear at almost any speed. It is still shifting hard, it just would go into 3rd under WOT. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

it sounds like the direct clutches are going out.try loosening the tv cable and monitor line pressure on a 2/3 shift to see if it drops.

You'll need a 0-300 psi pressure gauge and a 5-6' long hose with a 1/8" NPT male pipe fitting on the end. Attach it to the port just above where the shifter hooks up to the driver-side of the transmission.
