What is fair price for a core trans with converter out of a SS monte?
I havent seen it in person to verify if its a CZ but will see it this weekend.
Its a high miler rebuild status unkown....

I'd probably give $200 but pull the pan to verify it has the correct governor. If it has been gone through the cz on the vb might have been washed off but id want to see that too. Might be worth more if you just have to have one. I'd start the offer at $100 with the fact that it has high miles and will need gone through to use.

Converter is good for a core or restall but I wouldn't use a used converter I didn't know the history of.

If its verified cz vb/gov its worth (considered as a core) $100-300 depending on how bad you need a core and how bad he wants to get rid of it.

Do a search. I'm sure there is a pic of what the weights look like and what color the drive gear is. I don't recall just off the top of my head. I think the if it came from a 3.73 geared car it would be green and if it is out of a 3.42 it would be orange. Someone may know.

Thanks for you guys helping out I picked it up for $200 and was an actual CZ and all good.

sounds like a real good score to me.
You helped, I actually showed him your post and said this guy said this is only worth that much.
But he was a good guy--young college kid and sitting on the engine and trans a while so he was happy to get some money for it.

If buyer and seller feel good about it, its a good transaction to me. Might have been worth more to the right buyer but I wouldn't have given more for it.
