correct trans

now that i know it has the correct transmission. what would be some of the recomended areas to look at to ensure proper operation behind an upgraded engine.
Thanks
Robert

In stock form, that trans isnt going to last long behind a good motor. Your best bet would be to contact Lonnie Diers at Extreme Automatics 513-898-0553 and talk it over with him. Your combo is going to determine how much of a build your going to need to do to the trans. You could just cruise it until it shreds too! Thats what we usually do!!

The only problem with that is "just cruising" usually means a few sprited stoplight accellerations!

the CZF in my MCSS did fine until that damnned mustang pulled up next to me!

cruising

if i just wanted to go cruising i would have left the tools in the tool box. get the rags out wash it and enjoy the ride.
i don't think my goals are to extreme. i wanna be in the respectable range on the track, impressive on the street, and not have to call the tow truck to get home. nothing worse than having to replace the whole thing because you didn't know about a few dollars in parts and maintainence.

I would definately call one of the known builders to get some good insight. David offered up help too. For the amount of knowledge these builders have to make these trannies work, their prices now a days are extremely fare for a bad a$$ tranny!

Exactly... Most of the builders are offering decent deals now, and will help you tailor a build to your needs.

There are at minimum a few hard parts you will want to consider in even a moderate build.

I'm very happy with the trans Chris at CK built for my needs, and I expect it to live a good long life, even with my heavy right foot.

It might be overbuilt, but I'd rather have THAT, versus having to pull it out a second time because I skimped somewhere to save a buck. Unfortunately I dont have a lift in my workshop (or even the workshop for that matter), and dropping a G-body trans with the car on jackstands while rolling around on a creeper is NOT fun.

Just give Dave a call like I did and you will be

If it has never been opened up, it won't have the hardened sunshell in it. They started that in 85. Dave, Lonnie, Chris, Bruce, Brian... any of these guys can fix you up good.
