Which line is the in-line and which one is the out-line at the radiator? (top, bottom?) I cant remember and the motor is apart.

Also, has anyone just completely bypassed the radiator's tranny cooler and just used an external cooler? This is what a tranmission shop did with my 97 GMC Sierra when it was rebuilt.

the bottom line is the outlet from the trans, and the top is the return.
as for bypassing the in tank cooler- people do it all the time. you might over cool the trans, but i doubt it.
your engine will run cooler, so that might make it a worthwhile mod in and of itself.

i have run many years on just an external cooler. now that i have a PTS alum rad. im going to plum the tranny lines into the rad. then into the external cooler. there is no reason not to run the lines threw the rad. unless you have a big external coooler with a fan.
