hello guys,
i had my gn transmission rebuilt and got my car back in april, then the car was not shifting into 3rd (posted in previous threads). Well since the transimission had a 6month warranty on it, i had my uncle take it back to the transmission shop. Well the guy said that 3rd gear and reverse was both burned out, and said it was b/c the tv cable was all the way forwards ( which was a lie). He said that it would be 250.00 to get fixed. What do you guys think about this??
I told my uncle im not paying him a damn thing.

let me know what you guys think of this and what can i do about it?
thanks
charles

if the tv cable was misadjusted from the beginning you would have had 100 other complaintsfrom day one .also the band and 2nd gear shift would have gone first.the only thing i have found that keeps third gear alive besides attentitive overhaul practices is dual feeding the hi clutch.tell the guy that when he took your money for the rebuild he also took the responsibility of the 6 month warranty .if its only 3rd gear it shouldnt cost him much to repair it.

thanks for the reply,
what could have caused the reverse and the third gear to go uout? also if the tv cable was not adjusted properly, would that cause those gears to go out? b/c the guy was trying to tell my uncle that i had moved the tv cable all the way forwards. and that is a lie.
thanks
charles

not enough third gear oil, usually the result of a leak between the valve body and the hi drum .

probably because the extra care wasnt taken to replace the bushings in the direct drum and make sure there was good rings seal from the center support, or he may have just cut a seal during the rebuild, It happens.

I would go back to him and let him know if he doesn't honor his warranty you will call a lawyer. problem is, the lawyer will end up costing you more than he is looking for to fix it. If he continues to give you a hard time I woudl go elsewhere to fix it and take him to small claims to pay that tab saying you were forced to go elsewhere because he woudn't honor his warranty.

I would hesitate going back to him because he clearly doesn't do good work.

Another option, go to him pay him the $250 by check and once you leave you call the bank and stop pay the check. Then it is up to him to take you to court and you have a warranty on your side.

I would copy this to floppy disc and show it to him at his office.
Then see what he does.

im in the Air Force, and my car is at my parents home, b/c i got my car fixed there before i left for bmt. Thats about 600 miles away.
Any other suggestions?
thanks guys

Got a friend down your parent's way that can copy it for you?
Maybe even your parents?:)
It's not tough.

i think i have a good idea,
maybe if alot of us turbo buick guys called his number letting him know how bad his service is and that he suck at what he does, maybe he will take his time on the next trans and just do it right.

Time is money and people do make mistakes.
However,if you can make your case, then maybe next time he'll listen when someone tells him he goofed.
No one walks on water.
I'm still perplexed as to why you seem to be resisting showing him this thread.
Nick moved it here for you to get expert help.
You got it.
NOW USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!
