I peeked under the car last night and noticed that the transmission mount has collapsed. This would probably explain the weird knocking noise I was getting in the middle of the car going bumps and dips in the road. It's also making the driveshaft rub against the exhaust clamps (ATR dual).

What is all involved in swapping out the mount? Is this something that can be done with jack stands and hand tools or be better off taking it to a shop?

BTW - I'll be ordering the transmission mount that HRpartsNstuff sells for replacement.

TIA

:)

A jack, piece of wood for under the tranny pan, jackstands, and ordinary tools. I would do it yourself and safe some money. Remove the four crossmember bolts, 15mm, remove nut on middle of crossmember, jack up trans, slide crossmember back, unbolt mount from trans, and reverse process. Open a beer and enjoy.;)

I was able to simply jack up the trans until it is against the floor board....with the car on jacks, I could slide underneath and the mount will come right out after removing the two bolts from the trans and the crossmember wasn't touched.

Just make sure the main bolt is "unbolted" before jacking....less work and if it doesn't go that smooth, you can still do it the other way.

Thanks

Thanks for the input guys.

I thought it would be easy to do. Just wanted to make sure. Hate it when something looks easy to do and it really isn't :)

Easy to do, just as described above.
If using the stock exaust hanger you will need to modify it by cutting a piece of the lip off of it, so you will need a grinder or cutting wheel of some sort.
