Is it OK to use Rtv black on the gasket?

It will be ok but I have never had to use anything but a regular gasket.

I was told never, ever, ever put RTV on a transmission part (gasket or otherwise).


Just ask any of the transmission builders on the board.

I've sealed around my transmission filter seam many times with black RTV and NEVER had a problem in 27 years.

Rubber or cork? I always use cork just dabs to hold in place.

Shit, well I used it on the gasket and the pick up edges. My transmission builder finally return my call and said that what he does.

I have a thin smear of the Right Stuff from permatex on a cork gasket for my th400. I couldnt get it to stop leaking otherwise. Just make sure its very thin.
