My car will not shift by itself under wot. I have to back off the throttle a little bit for it to shift. I pulled off my tranny oil pan to see if the governer spring was intact and it was. Only thing I can think of is it got the wrong shift kit put in? It's been recently rebuilt from the last owner. Thanks

So, it has always done this since you have owned it? If so who built the trans?
When you had the pan off did you take.the governor out or just search the pan for the spring?
What about the valve body markings, was there a br3 or something else on it?

If it were mine I'd drop.the pan again and see about the governor.

Let us know.

T.V. cable adjusted too tight? At what rpm are you getting up to before you lift? The spring in the governor is most likely ok other wise you would have high shifts at light throttle.

I did pull the whole governer out and the spring was intact where it should be. I didn't pay attention to any markings on the valve body. And the tv cable has been adjusted but before we adjusted it it still wouldn't shift at wot. Yes the previous owner rebuilt the trans with a transgo shift kit and since he did the rebuild it won't shift under wot. The car will over rev if I don't let off the throttle for it to shift.

Braxton Jordt,
Did you notice any debris or trash in the trans. fluid when you pulled the pan? Also, when you were setting the tv cable, did you check the tv cable with the trans. Pan off. You need to make sure that tv cable is moving the throttle lever arm correctly . The arm should set or make contact with the valve body throttle plunger when the throttle petal un-pressed and should fully press the plunger in all the way at WOT.

No the pan was spotless, and no we didn't check the tv cable with the trans pan off. Ill do that today. Thank you
