Trunk release pictures

Where is the trunk release located inside the car? my car is not equipped with one but i want to add one and am curious as to where it actually goes.

The button is mounted in the glovebox on the upper left side. HTH.

sorry for the double post but i was just going over the build sheet for the car (main reson i bought it was because of original build sheet and all service bills) and appearantly according to the build sheet my car is equipped with a power trunk release. ill have to look for it next time i'm in there haha.

To install one that is not in your car is extremely easy i have done it to four different cars two being regals and thanks to good old GM they have everything there for you already incase the car didnt come with it and you wanted to install one in the future...you only need to run the wires from the glovebox to the trunk and that is the hardest part, the rest just bolt right on. Make sure you run one wire to the trunk and the other goes to a power wire, and in the trunk the popper goes on only one way so you just bolt it on and its grounded back there....then you should here pop pop pop I can send you pictures if it makes it easier for you. :wink:

Anyone know where I can get some connectors for the switch? Ive been meaning to do mine, but dont want to buy a special harness. I'll also need the bracket for the switch too.

Here's some pics of the instructions I made for the kit we sell.

Easiest way to get the connectors is to head out to the bone yard. Any 80's-90's GM product uses the same parts more or less. Plenty of Cadillacs out there in other words.

In addition to all the above advice and photos here is alittle more info. The power trunk release is probably the easiest to add option to your turbo regal....even someone like me has done it.

The main lead wire from the solenoid that you mount to the latch assembly has originally a black plastic sleeve over the wire as it funnels down your trunk lid frame work on your drivers side. You will notice on your drivers side hinge, two black pop in plastic clips....currently they hold one wire (your trunk lite wire) when you do the power trunk release it locks into the other grove in both those plastic clips.

While its true GM placed the release button on a small metal bracket using probably a 5mm screw to upper edge of your glove box, I have found it far more practical to simply mount it under the dash near the steering column just mounting the button in a hole....closer to run hot wire to fuse box so trunk opens when car is off. Just a matter of preference.

Other GM cars I have have the trunk release by the driver which makes more sense if you plan to use it rather than being bone stock original.

I installed one of Kirbans trunk release kits and I didn't even bother wiring the glove box switch. I just have the AUX on my alarm keypad open the trunk. Works great.

Clever idea....makes more sense and brings the operation into current method of opening trunk. Like I said earlier "the in the glove box" location is not very practical if you plan to use it. For originality it is.
