Try This One Out!!!!

[85 conversion]

i was crusing around today and while running a cobra stang i was shifting the car myself and during the 2-3 shift the tranny selector got hung up between gears.the car felt funny like something was holding it back even thought it was still pulling.It is a built Art Carr trans. The problem now is that you have to get the car near max rpm for it to shift into the next gear while in Drive.It still pulls hard no slippage and shifts hard when it does.The tv cable is fully out at WOT and has been adjusted useing the normal method. Does this sound like a governor issue???? Any help would be greatly appreciated due to this trans only haveing about 1000 miles on it.

I had one do something similar but it started doing that and within a day quit upshifting. When the pan was pulled the governor pin had sheered off.

sounds like the governor spring came off.

CRAZY, I was coming on here tonight to post the exact same problem!!!! Any thoughts on what it takes to fix? Car's going into tranny shop tomorrow.

well i pulled the governor and it looks fine.I even pulled one from another trans to make sure. I pulled the valve body to make sure the gaskets arent ripped. I found a torn section on the tranny side of the plate but when i pulled the one from the other trans i have is torn in the same place???
the area that is torn looks to be an extenison of an existing hole that is in the same valley. Anyone have any idea's????

Heard back from my tranny shop today. I had had this tranny re-built by them last year, but have only put 1000kms on it since then. (motor blew this spring!)

So luckilly this was under warranty, because I've lost 2nd gear
Didn't get a chance to ask why.. should have her back in a couple more days.

Man I hate down time.... Oh well
