Hey I was going to convert to a turbo 400 over the winter and was wondering what all I'll need to do this. I just got a JW wheel, will that be alright or will I have to get another one? What kind of gear is everyone using? I was thinking of 3.73 but not sure. 4000 stall?

Thanks in advance

The flywheel should have nothing to do with it, just make sure you have the right b.o.p. 400 case.
I think there is 2 different tail lengths as well, maybe some one can chime in on this?
You will need a different driveshaft as well........good idea to go to a 400 if you plan on reaching the 9s.
I run 3.70 gears and like them, used to have 3.73s and they were good too.
I have run 3.42s in between and did not like them, i think it has alot to do with combination.........some guys even go 3.23, some go 3.90.........its personal if you ask me!

Good luck!

Thanks for the input - I knew about the driveshaft. Just making sure I wasn't overlooking something.

Keep the 3.42 gear. The driveshaft is a crap shoot. I was able to use my stocker with a shortened yoke. Cals was like that too. But Jesses had to be shortened. You are probably going to have to waitand get the trans in and measure. Most guys say just to cut 1in off the stocker but I would wait and make sure.Purchase the HR parts TH400 trans mount. It will make life lots easier. For a dipstick we use the flexible Lokar dipstick.
