TSS question - anyone running Mease intercooler

Are the Mease stock location intercoolers allow for TSS:

Intercooler

Factory stock location air to air intercooler required, modifications allowed. *No part of a stock location intercooler (not the shroud) may extend down no more than 12.00” below the centerline of the crankshaft. No front mount intercoolers are allowed.

Id think if the v4r is legal than the Mease is legal too.

I can't give you an official answer, but I have run TSS for the last several years. I would say that it would be fine. The class is peer tech'd, and the only thing I have witnessed is the measuring of the 12" dimension on one particularly large stock mount intercooler. It passed, btw.

Hard to believe I don't know everything.

My opinion is what stangbanger said. Any stock location air-to-air I/C that fits the dimensions is acceptable.

Thanks, QW. I have no doubt that the car can do it, but I feel it will have to be a perfect run. I've had the converter tightened for the second time. Haven't made a pass with the car yet, but it feels tighter just easing around. If it will leave at a more reasonable RPM than 4800, I think the car will do a low 10.70 or maybe a high .60. That is if it will stay together!

87 GN, owned since new. Stock (unopened) engine, Janis roller trans w/ Perf. Trans. 9/11 torque converter. Limit Engineering TA-61, MJ 17 row, 55# inj, XP double pumps. Best 1/4 mile - 10.81 & 124.3. Best 1/8 mile - 6.84 & 100.0. Best 60' - 1.46

Would mind discussing how much boost/timing you were running on your 10.81 pass? Also what the car weighes in at?

24 psi

Seriously, I think it weighs around 3550 and the boost was around 33 psi. He's tried more boost but it didn't help. Not sure about the timing.

He'll probably answer for sure tomorrow.

I look forward to watching the class this year to see some 10.70's out of his car.

The Mease would be legal. I don't see how anybody would protest it unless you bust off some low 10's then I can gaurantee your car will be picked apart.

Dusty is dead on.......24 psi. It was actually in the 33-34 psi range. I'm not sure about the timing on the most recent chip. It's Red's Raptor chip. If it's anything like his 106 that I ran before, it's low timing, probably around 18 or so. I don't have my laptop with me or I would check the Direct Scan files.

Car weighed 3540, according to the BG scales. I don't think the car is that light. It is an all steel, heavily optioned car.....power seats, windows, locks, concert sound, rear defog, power antenna, etc...

You're probably right. I've seen the BG scales vary nearly 30 pounds from one day to the next, albeit this was a few years ago. Maybe they're actually having the scales certified by now.

Well that explains it.

Was it 3540, with you in it? If so, that car is light. (assuming you weigh 200 lbs)

3540 with me and almost a full tank of gas. I weigh right at 200, so you see why I think the scales are screwed.

Ya..that is one light full option car if they are not messed up. I wonder when is the last time the scales have been calibrated? TSM, TSS, etc...all use those scales to determine wether a car meets the minimum weight for the classes!!

Last year the scales were about 60lbs light. I know my car is 3640 with me and they showed 3580.

Scott. I think your timing is probably around 21 in 1st-2nd and 19 in 3rd. I thought it might have higher timing since your heads are stock and you can't move the air that we can with ported heads but I don't know for sure.
