i have a mint low mileage set of std tta pistons in great reusable condition, should i use these in my engine build up or toss(sell) them and get JE? also will the 204-214 cam work well with gn1 heads and td 1.65 roller rockers? should i use king bearings or federal mogulls? what are the best cam bearings to use?

I will bite. Sounds good, just verify the pistons are in extremely good shape. They will hold up just as well and the cam sounds good.

If the TTA pistons are used with stock GN or GN 1 heads ,the comp ratio would be .5 lower .
You can compensate with thinner head gaskets or decking the heads though ,or just run 40lbs of boost :D

40lbs that is it!

seriously, these are like new. but i suppose i should just get new ones so i can get the correct compression. thanks

I'm in the same postion right now building a short block with TTA pistons . Just use a double shim steel gasket and your comp will be just fine . :) . I also have the 204/214 SP cam in the engine that is in my car now .and will be putting the same cam in the new short block . You'll love it :D . good low/mid and pulls scary on top . I haven't found a road long enough :) .

I used the FM bearings, especially made for the turbo motor, and they work fine. There isn't alot of choices for cam bearings, as far as hardness goes.
The 204-214 cam is great cam with GN1s. Don't think you need 1.65 rockers with this cam. It already has a lot of lift, and the 1.65s put more stress on the valve train/cam etc.....
I used the Fel Pro 1026 headgaskets, the ones recommended, and they have held up great for years. Torqued to 85-90'#s
Can't comment on pistons except to say, make sure the comp ratio is correct, you don't want to leave anything on the table, so to speak. What's the weight of the pistons,, JE vs TTA?
FWIW...If you have aftermarket headers, I'd pre-fit them to the heads, as there are little bosses under the exhaust ports that interfer on some headers......

From what i have been told the TTA pistons have a little more meat on them than the gn pistons. And also...they are dished more than the GN pistons so your compression ratio will be lower, i had tta pistons in my car and ran 21lbs on pump gas everyday. I believe as long as you stay under the 600hp level and watch the knock you will not have to worry about it.
