Just gotten my motor mounts and frame pads. I started to take the old ones out. I was wondering if anybody has installed these in there tta? If so can you give any tips to get at the frame pad bolts? A couple of them are not too bad, but there is a couple that are really starting to get me mad.
Any tips or suggestions on changing the motor mounts would be great.
THANKS
Joe Miller

TTA polymounts

Hello Joe

I just installed a pair last week on my TTA.
It is a little difficult to get to some of the nuts
on the frame pads. You should of got a special
wrench with the mounts, this wrench will let you
get to 4 of the 6 nuts by going up through the
holes in the A-arms/frame. You can hold the nuts
with this wrench from under the car while someone
under the hood loosens the bolts. This is definetly a 2
man job. As for the other 2 nuts I used a wobble head
socket and extension from my dads metwrench set.
Again come up from the bottom with the socket and
hold the nut while someone with a wrench loosens it
from the top. I had my IC,DP,starter, and crossover pipe
off when I did mine ,so I'm sure it was a little easier than
yours will be. It is definetly worth the trouble though,my
motor sits nice and level now and my 3"DP doesn't hit anywhere.
Good luck.

James thanks for the info. I did not have the swivle head socket, when I was working on the mounts. I just bought a set today. I did not take the starter out, but it looks like it would be easer to get to the bolts with the starter out. My down pipe is out because I purchased a THDP.
Anyways thanks alot for the info.

How's the vibration in the car after the mounts are installed? I'm thinking about putting a set on my TTA.

Thanks.

TTA polymounts

I have not driven the car yet ,but I did start it up and to my
surprise it seemed to have less vibration than before I installed
the polymounts, however this could be due to the installation of
the flex pipe which I put on my DP while I had it off. When I bought the car about six months ago it had the mushy stock
mounts and a solid 3"DP on it which was hitting on my header and
frame. The car was a real rattle trap, you could hear and feel the
vibration inside the car ,especially in the steering wheel. I too was
concerned about more vibration with the poly mounts, but this has
not been the case so far, even at idle in gear where it is supposed to be the worsed it is not bad. The addition of the flex
pipe on a TTA is supposed to make a big difference in vibration
according to John, at John's performance,so this may be where my
vibration went. However, the poly mounts will level your engine and now I have a quarter inch or more of clearance all around my
3" DP and the motor does not move at all. I will let you know how
the vibration is after I get it on the road. I'm waiting on my new
rear fiberglass spoiler to get painted at the body shop,my original
was beyond repair.
James.
