I'm curious what changes people make when tuning on their alky kit. I'm running the minimum boost I can with the hd actuator (22ish) and with baseline fuel on the tt chip and the alky knob at 5, I still can get a bit of knock. Even today (very good air) I added 5% fuel, and had a reading of 773/2.8kr, both at 49mph. Then I turned the alky knob to 6 and it seemed to smooth everything a bit and bump the 02's into the 790/800 range no knock.

I'm assuming this is an acceptable change, or should I be adding fuel instead? Trying to decide which variable is more specific. Since my 02's were decent and it was still knocking my inclination is to keep the alky up.

Thoughts?

When I get knock, I try adding fuel first. If that doesn't help, then I add alky instead. When you add the alky, if the knock goes away, then go back to fuel. You might be able to take some fuel out now that you have more alky spraying.
If neither fuel nor alky help the knock, then you might have to reduce timing, or look for another problem.

It sounds like you're on the right track. Basically work back and forth between fuel and alky to get the best results.

Thanks

Hey Eric,

Thanks for the tip. I'm thinking of going to the track with fuel at +20 and alky on 10 just to be safe, and work backwards from there....

Otherwise the car is in perfect tune, I just want to get a nice baseline tuneup before hitting the track again. Still need to adjust my lockup with you, I've been lazy about getting the chip out of the car.

Thanks,

Eric

If your airfuel is where you want it and get knock, then it needs more alky.. and fuel pulled.

Alky is to increase octane. But it also serves as a fuel.

If the car is lean, and doesnt knock. Dont add alky to richen it up. Hope this makes sense.

leave it at the base i went to the track with the same agenda 10% ruch in the chip on fuel and got 2.6 of knock and 02's at 830 took 10 percent out and 02's dropped to 785 no knock with 1 degree of timing added to 24/22
