I have an aluminum discharge tube that's easily taken off. I simply drilled a hole barely big enough for the nozzle which has a tappered seat. I used a sealing washer on the outside.
spraying straight in should be fine. The air will be moving at a very high velocity and it will not make any difference. We normally spray straight in.
