I have to take my turbo off after 5 years. I am concerned about the bolts for the downpipe. I have a terry houston pipe with the allen style bolts. Is it best to warm it up first or do it cold to crack them loose?

What size are the bolts? I wanted to chase the threads in the turbo and have new bolts on standby. I know they were allen style, but don't remember thread pitch or length. Any good sources for replacements? Thanks!

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. Anyone know the length of the bolt?

Gotta bring this one back for a minute. I think they're 30mm's in length. But, I can't see those heavy duty bolts being the same size as the little bolts for the turbo shield. That just seems too small for such stress. Are we sure they're M8 bolts?

The length needs to be verified because of flange thickness variances and yes 8x1.25mm. Stainless thread inserts and stainless bolts are the way to go

8mm x 1.25
Socket head; Cap Screws
Mine are some sort of coated variety; but stainless is ok
My DP flange thickness in approx. 17mm
My bolt length is 30mm

In that application I would use nothing but stainless. Along with a thin coating of nickle based anti-seize.

I see. What about titanium flange bolts? Would that be a good material?

That would be a great way to move weight tot he rear and increase traction. :)

Same rules apply with anti-seize.

Take a look at ARP 12 points in SST, A flange bolt would most likely not fit, be a good time to replace the 10mm studs in the mount side also, or at least swap to the ARP 12 pt nuts, much easier to tighten

I would use nothing but gold plated bolts encrusted with diamonds on the heads

Five dollars a bolt for something that will never rust and be there forever is more than worth it for me.
