Ok im curious if you guys with Street/Strip cars manually shift threw the gears when going down the track or even around town at times?? I mean wouldnt leaving it in Drive(not OD) Make for better and more consitant shift points?? Does anyone leave the car in OD when they make a pass? Im curious about the Limited owners as well!! Seems like it might smarter to leave it in either Drive or OD!! ,Do any of these cars come with a shift detent plate?? I would give my own opinion. but i have YET to even go for a ride or even drive one of these cars!! I want it to be the car im going to buy!! Hipefully soon!!
Please post pro's/cons about what you feel is best!! Just curious what the TB community does at the track!!
thanks
Phill

It depends

Some trans brakes are activated in first gear some dont. I personaly do both depending how she feels some times i want early shifts if the tracks a little slippery but if its planting well i use drive and go. The only time i ever use o/d is when i smoke the tires half way down the track .when i get out of it i shift into overdrive and coast to the finish line. Hope this helps

Yea i mean im just curious what everyone does!! Me personally wouldnt feel to comfortable pushing a Limited into gears while running down the track!! Wouldnt mind with a floor shift!! Just curious what everyones shifting techniques are for the track!!

I have calibrated several in the last year to shift at a desired rpm. There should be no need to shift manually. A lot less potential for error being able to leave it in drive. For those with mechanical t-brakes it gets a different detent plate.

For a column shift car, it's best to run an electric trans break. -----Jeremy

I manually downshift on the street a lot more than the track, well okay never at the track D works just fine.

In snow and ice I use 2nd and sometimes even 1st gear down some hilly roads.

I release the Trans break and get ready for the shift light.

I used to hold onto the shifter till I shifted 2nd at launch, this happened because I employ a reverse maunal valve body on a TH400

There is no feeling like letting that button go at 12psi
