Black smoke appears when I get on my 84'. Previous owner wrapped the ECM in plastic to prevent water from shorting it out. (Leak in windshield) Replaced ECM with one from an 85" and replaced MAF sensor with "guaranteed aftermarket" one. Runs like it used to, but with the smoke. Will change the O2 sensor next, but back to my original request. Does anyone out there know of a source for the doughnut type gaskets that go in the flex pipes that connect the turbo and exhaust manifold? I've tried about everywhere locally. Also, are Genuine GM door skins still available?

Thanks for your help!:)

As I remember, there is no doughnut type gaskets in either end of the up pipe from the manifold to the turbo. The passenger header has a rounded end which seals to the 45 degree end of the up pipe (with no gasket), and the other end of the up pipe seals similarly to the turbo via a steel or cast iron adapter. Tightenening with a high temp silicon should suffice if the rounded end on the header is not warped. The only place that a doughnut type lead gasket was used is on the exhaust elbow.

I got Tired of that leak there..so I spent a few hours going thru boxes, and BOXES of compression gaskets....I used one on my car, and It hasnt leaked since...if you can't find a gasket that is "just the right" size drop me an E-mail....I think I might have an extra one layin around!

Just bought one from GM, their about $30. Let me know if you can't get one.
