I need to wrap my new Mease DP to insulate it from my PS rear nylon upper control arm bushing (which also needs a heat sheild)... and I figured that wrapping up the turbo's exhaust housing at the same time would be wise. It is a stock turbo.

Is there any preferences in manufacturer or brand kit when it comes to using a turbo wrap?

DEI and Thermo-Tec are the only companies that I see supplying wrapping kits. They offer them in 4, 6, and 8 cylinder configurations. But neither states what the difference is, or what is even included in the kit.

Perhaps someone can give me a little insight into this.

Thank you.

:D

I have wrapped two exhaust items, and they have both had catosphophic (?) failures.
I will never ever waste my money on that garbage again.
Both times, large chuncks of exhaust pipe fatiqued and blew out in chunks. Oh and the holes they left were too large to seld over, and the shop guy said he woundn't even try welding over metal that fatiqued.
Did I mention that I consider header wrap a total waste of money!.

Build a good little heat sheild and you're money ahead, unless you can get downpipes for free.

YMMV,

what you had wrap

Thanks.

Bruce: I think that I'll sheild and wrap the UCA & bushing area instead.

Also, are telling me that even stainless steel (I think that it is T304 SS or something like that) fails??? Or is it the gauge (unknown) that dictates the failure more than the molecular construction? :p

Thanks,

The stock headers are stainless (16% Chromium classifies any steel as stainless) but they are VERY low grade stainless. I wrapped my THDP with the stuff and am very happy with the reduction in heat. The DP does not get as much heat, or as much pressure as the headers, so I do not think the DP will have problems being wrapped. ERIC.:D
