Turbo Help!

I swapped my turbo v6 for a 5.7 lt1 but I miss having a turbo...are there any good kits that I can drop in the lt1 that go for around $1500 at most ?

$1500 will buy 1 turbo and that's about it. If you want to get one of those eveilbay kits it will most likely work long enough for you to need another engine as well as a bunch of other parts, which is about 5 minutes. Now that you've lost well over 50% of the value of your car I'd suggest that it's time to put back what belongs in it.

Um....you do realize that 450 on an original stock engine is very doable, right? You really might want to do some research here on the board and see how much power and how fast they can go if you have some sort of clue on how to work on a car.

I do not know what was funnier to me, your original post or Charlie's reply.

If you removed a turbo V-6 and replaced it with a LT1, you are screwed trying to add a turbo for $1500?

One important element of a turbo performance is the electronic engine control system which is needed, plus lots of other stuff also not cheap.

Your best bet now is a 200 shot of NOS, and hope the Chevy will hold together for a while.

I'm still trying to learn about the national and was dragged into the lt1 by a friend so I went with it because of the power...this is the first car I ever worked on cause I just turned 18 and bought it for $4500 as a project car....so my best bet is to put back the original v6 , but what else can I add to get more hp out of it ?

My experience of doing HP work is if you have $1500 to play with you need about 3 times that much when you get through with the project .

This is def a classic case of not researching. I always wondered why people shot for power numbers oppose to track numbers? 650 RWHP would be awesome, but to plant it to the pavement is a diff scenario. If not building a track car, then why the goal for a specific HP? Nothing bothers me more than someone walking up to my car, saying "nice car man!! I remember these back in the days!! What's under the hood, an 8? Sounds mean.." I call people like that really mean names. In YOUR case, that *insert mean name here* would be correct. Put the original motor back in. $1500 with a stock motor could do you wonders. Just my .02
