I bought my GN a few months ago and I am trying to sift through what the car is actually equipped with. The turbo is in question and I would like for you guys to take a look as I do not believe that it is stock. The car was advertised as "stock" when I bought it and I am slowly finding speed goodies already installed :) . Stamped on the compressor housing is "A/R .60 M24 Garret". The compressor inlet measures approximately 73mm i.d. The small end of the housing measures approximately 50mm. I say approximate as the measurement was taken with the intercooler hose on. With the hose on, it measured 56mm. I subtracted 6mm to to compensate for the hose and casting thickness. On the exhaust side "Garret" is stamped into the housing. The turbo is equipped with and adjustable wastegate actuator. It does not appear to be the stock turbo as compared to the info on gnttype.com. http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/pictureguides/turboguide/8687stock.html.

What do you think?

It's not stock. Bison will know what it is though. I see a few goodies on it.:D I see your mods in your sign. Get rid of the flowmasters and upgrade chips.

Looks like a 60-1 compressor wheel. Hard to say what the turbine is. Probably a stage 3(te60) or p trim (te62). Ex housing is a stock Garrett .63 recontoured for the larger wheel.

Is this a worthwile upgrade from the stock turbo? Any noticable gains in performance? Is this right for what I am messing with? Yes, Flowmasters are coming off and I am doing homework on chips and injectors for the spring. Thanks so much for the help.

It depends on the turbine. If it's it's got a larger than stage 3 turbine it will support a lot of power but will spool slow with a near stock converter. With a stage 3 turbine it will work ok with a near stock converter and support a lot more turbo than stock

Thanks for the help Bison. Do you think the exhaust side may be a choke point, now or in the future, or do you feel it will be up to the task. I don't know what the turbo is capable of because I am going through the upgrades before I really lean on it. Boost is currently at 17 psi and I run 93. No scanmaster numbers as I installed one after I purchased it and parked it for the winter. I need to find time in between beers to get the rest of this shit on there. By the way, my goals are 11.xx. Thanks for all you do on this board, even for us new dumb guys.

Not even close to choking it on your combo at 17psi. If it has a larger than stage 3 turbine it's
hurting spool a lot
