Turbo Inlet / Booster

GN Friends,
Can anyone give me some advice.
87 Grand Natl.. The clamp that holds the top 2 1/2 " Steel inlet pipe keeps coming loose when i hit the gas for a boost it releases. I have tried to tighten this clamp and still come loose, also the boost gauge is not working, only the first 2 lights are lit but does not move during boost, i can hear the Turbo spool up.
Can anyone help me with these 2 problems.

Check the vacuum line that goes to the MAP sensor make sure its not disconnected its locate at passenger side inner fender n get u a set of heavy duty hose clamps or coupling that should keep ur inlet pipe secure.

If you're talking about the 90* up pipe that runs between the intercooler and throttlebody, that's a common problem. If you're rubber hoses are black with an orange reveal they are the stock hoses and need to be replaced with new ones. After doing that that problem with be fixed.

Clean the pipe and the hose with alcohol and then spray them with hair spray, clamp and let dry for an hour. Go have fun. If the hoses are not worn out you should be good to go

Thankyou friends for the advice. With your help i have repaired the broken Vacuum line that
Leads to the Map sensor. It was disconnected on 1 end and cracked on the other. looks like my boost gauge is now working. Also i have ordered a Silicone Hose set with clamps for the turbo inlets from G Body Parts.Does anyone have experience with the silicone hoses. The clamps that come with it seem pretty heavy duty so i am hoping that fixes my problem with them slipping off when under heavy boost...

also, make sure your boost is not too high, or you may damage the engine.

the wastegate hoses degrade with heat and age, the hoses are the small ones that run from the compressor to the solenoid and wastegate. if broken you will overboost.

Good point Bob. On the chance you set your boost with leaky uppipe hoses, you're going to get that air back when you seal them up with new hoses. After you get your new hoses in place go easy the first time you kick the crap out of it!!

Oh yeah, don't throw those factory black hose clams away. They're much stronger than off-the-shelf worm clamps. You never know when they'll save the day later on down the road.
