Hello all. TB newbie needing some help selecting a turbo for my 4.1. Bought the motor already assembled with 1000 miles on it. To the best of my knowledge the specs are: 291 4.1 .030, TRW hypereutectic pistons, .020 turbo crank, ARP hardware, Comp 212/212 roller cam kit (springs, push rods, 885 roller lifters), ported iron heads with stock valves, and HS 1.60 roller rockers. I will most likely be running a ported stock intake as well. The car will be 95% street car, only seeing the track maybe once or twice a year. Goal at the track would be mid-low 11's on 93 without alky for now. My thoughts on a turbo/converter combo were PT5857, 6131e, or 6152e with 3000-3200 LU converter. Car is a budget minded build so BB is really not an option. Any advice would be appreciated.

You won't be running faster than high 11's easily or safely unless run high octane or alky on that combo. Thats a higher cylinder pressure setup that will detonate over 18psi with more than 19* advance. I doubt it will have enough at that low timing/boost to run low 11's safely. Not impossible but will be on the edge.

To get low 11's you'll need more motor i would think on 93. I would really recommend getting razor's kit. It will make things so much easier.

Adding alky later is not out of the question, just was curious what it would do without it. So without alky mid-high 11's is more realistic. Again, this will be mostly street driven so I'm not overly concerned about getting the fastest time possible.

Just keep the boost low when on the street and when you go to the track put some race gas in and as far as the turbo selection i would ask bison's knowledge on that.

12.50 is more realistic.

I have a 6152E on my stock GN and at 27psi its been 11.36 at 118mph. With Alky and 93 octane ;) Great turbo I may be in the market to sell so I can upgrade to a 6262DBB or 6265DBB :D lol

I would buy alky before a Turbo and just run higher boost. Try to push it on pump gas you'll be putting hesdgaskets on right and left. That way you can keep it cranked up on the street for that unsuspecting mustang or Corvette ;) to put in perspective for you mine will barely do low 11s on pump and that's pushing it
