When replacing the chip in the regular translator is the last 2 pins on one end not used?
When I pulled chips from 2 different translators they seemed to be bent up.

Nope, not supposed to be that way.

Sometimes when removing the chips, guys will pry one end way up, bending some pins.

If the end pins (at either end) are bent and not inserted in the socket, the unit will not function.
